What happens when you look back from the future one day to today – what will you see?

Life is a game of choices – as to what you will believe, what you will try, what you will attempt, and what you will achieve.
You really need to start each day with the right choices – by focusing on the end goals of your overall opportunity!
Choose wisely!

“Act on your dreams! ‘Hopefully’ should be a verb, rather than just
a desire!” – Futurist Jim Carroll
Far too many people live in the land of dreams unfulfilled. And the sad thing is, an unrealized dream is really a stolen dream.
Action is the best medicine!
How many times do you say you ‘hope’ for something to come about, only to end up not making a conscious effort to actually turn the desire into a reality?
How often do you ‘wish’ for a certain outcome, and then return to the same old actions that cause you to spin your wheels into a rut?
Do you frequently look back in regret at things that you haven’t done, instead of examining with pride the things that you have accomplished?
Successful innovators are different from most other people – they establish the same goals and dreams as you might, but immediately set out to act upon them to turn them into reality!
They take inaction as a sign of weakness; indecision as the drug of failure; standing still as an affront to their personality.
The worst thing that you can do each and every day is to do the things that will pretty much guarantee that your goals and visions, your dreams and ideas remain unfulfilled.
And here’s the key thing : why do you hesitate? Most often, you’ll often end up doing that because of an ingrained belief that you might not succeed. That very belief system then drives the attitude that you might as well not start doing something – because it is bound to lead to failure!
As Michelle Obama notes, “Failure is a feeling long before it becomes an actual result.” Study that phrase and learn from it!
Don’t be the primary thief of your dreams – recognize inaction for the criminal activity that it is!
Keynote: International Finance Corporation – A Member of the World Bank Group, Marrakesh, Morocco
Jim was the opening keynote speaker at the 2nd Global Manufacturing Conference for the International Finance Corporation, a part of of the World Bank Group, held in Marrakesh, Morocco.
The conference saw the attendance of government ministers, business executives, development experts and other officials, with al focus on the economic development opportunities that can come from the acceleration of manufacturing opportunities throughout emerging economies around the world.
This follows up on other high profile global keynotes, including the World Government Summit in Dubai, the WorldSkills Conference in Sao Paolo, the International Roads Union Transportation Summit in Muscat, Oman, and the Swiss Innovation Forum in Zurich, Switzerland.
The booking came after extensive discussions with senior executives at the International Finance Corporation / World Bank on my views on the future of manufacturing, previous keynotes around the world in the manufacturing sector, and of critical importance, my views on the accelerating opportunities of emerging economies including the region of Africa.
Of note, my 25 Trends for 2025 document, a grab bag of trends that examine the future, crystallized several of my viewpoints on emerging market opportunities.
It has long been my belief that we live in an era of the ‘great equalization,’ in which power is shifting from long established regions to those who have the agility, flexibility and wherewithal to adapt and align to fast moving trends.
In the world of manufacturing, a variety of trends – 3D printing, rapid prototyping and design, the acceleration of new materials, accelerating skills shortages, changes in logistics and supply chain methodologies and more – has led us to a period of time in which opportunity abounds in innovative thinking. I’ll be covering these issues and so much more in my upcoming talk, and you’ll certainly hear more about it in the months and weeks to come.
Also, to close, the fact that I’m a Canadian didn’t hurt! Since 2016, I have learned that our nation of diversity, welcoming attitude towards immigration, support of emerging economies, and compassionate thinking, provides us a brand and reputation that aligns well to those who want to focus on the real opportunities of the 21st century, manufacturing opportunities rather than building walls.

Daily Inspiration: “The smaller your goals, the more marginal your success!”
“The smaller your goals, the more marginal your success!” – Jim Carroll
No one ever achieved great things by pursuing small minded goals.! (Except for a few accidental innovations along the way, like Post-It Notes and SuperGlue.)
Real achievers establish far reaching goals based on big stretches of the imagination as to what they can accomplish – the word ‘impossible’ is a key part of their daily vocabulary. The idea of achieving ‘exceptional’ things is always in their mind. Constantly challenging themselves as to thinking how to be audacious is the oxygen that they breathe.
That’s where my stage topic of “What Do World Class Innovators Do That Others Don’t Do” comes from – literally, it is an examination of the big-minded thinking that organizations – large and small – pursue to achieve success.

The thing about these organizations – or the people who lead them – is that these innovators aren’t afraid to back away from big ideas: they know that right now it’s a great time to made bold decisions, and take decisive actions to forge aggressive new paths against the change that surrounds them.
They are decisive in their efforts, so that while they know that everyone else is wallowing in aggressive indecision and organizational sclerosis, they are fully aware that it is a great time to do great things.
I’ve been studying and thinking about these ‘world class innovators’ do for over 20 years. I’ve spent a lot of time thinking as to what it is that makes some organizations excel at the concept of innovation while others do not.
They have unique approaches to the future, and different attitudes, leadership styles and strategies that seems to provide them a secret-sauce of innovative thinking – that’s found in my list of ’10 Traits of World Class Innovators.’ But the key thing that they have in common is that they don’t think small!
Videos and Keynote Topic: The Future of Golf – and Rethinking Innovation Through Golf!
Hopefully you got a lot of great rounds in during the summer!
Did you spend time thinking about the future of the game? I did! Here’s a quick video on the future of the game as technology, the next generation and other trends come together! (Filmed on the 16th tee of the wonderful Georgian Bay Club!)
I spend a lot of time talking within and around the golf industry. Check out https://jimcarroll.golf – you’ll see blog posts and video related to the two times that the PGA of America – the world’s largest working sports organization – invited me in to help them think about how to achieve growth in game participation, and within the golf industry, through innovation.
You’ll also find my customized, leadership oriented golf keynote, Driving the Future – Linking the Acceleration of Golf to The Speed of Business. See below for more information – its a great talk for CEOs and others who are holding critical leadership, team-building or customer events at a golf club or resort. I explain it here, during a visit to Torrey Pines for a client keynote and a bit of golf.
