My keynote took a look at the disruptive trends which are and will continue to change their client base, and the unique financial, legal, risk and partnership issues that this might present them going forward. It was a talk that took a look at the future of professional services in the era of fast paced change!

This is a new group — 3 years old — that represents the 1-800 toll free service industry, and the invited me in for a keynote on trends and issues impacting consumer behaviour. I spoke to issues around mobile, increased and accelerated expectations for customer support, and how the Amazon effect is coming to affect the latter, to name just a few issues!

Maybe not the most motivational daily quote I’ve put up there, but I’ve certainly been writing and speaking about batteries quite a bit as of late.
Rapid trends with battery technology will impact everything from utilities and the electrical grid, to cars and drones, micro-hyper-connected devices that control intelligent highways, to so much more. When we can store more power in smaller space, everything changes.
Two days ago I spoke at a manufacturing conference about batteries, and they covered my insight in an article right away: “3D Printing, Batteries, to Drive Accelerating Change in Manufacturing”

Today I open the Canadian Manufacturing Technology Show, the largest such event in Canada. It’s a perilous time for manufacturing, yet one that is full of opportunity. 3D printing, digitization of the factory, robotics and more provides an opportunity for innovation, at the same time that global politics threatens to challenge the sector. Innovators will get ahead by taking advantage of trends ….. not by sitting and waiting for other things to happen. Hence, today’s quote!
