I take on a LOT of highly customized keynotes – and that is why I am so different from so many other speakers. And yet this one was a really unique one with a very unique question – how do you recruit the next generation doctor? My client, PracticeMatch, is in that industry, and want to challenge their team to get inside the head of the newly graduated 28 year old physician. So – I took them there! Read the lengthy blog post “Physician Recruitment in the Era of Digital Intimacy” that I wrote on around what I covered in this keynote.
Keynote: Optima Health, Williamsburg, VA – Back to The Future in Healthcare, Today!
If you are a health care insurer, you’ll probably want your leadership event to get away from the never ending topic of healthcare reform, and take a look at the real scientific, technological, demographic and other trends taking us into the future. That’s because a lot of the opportunity for cost savings driven from innovation comes from these trends. And so – Optima Health. They Brough me in for an event that was right around the future date as set in the Back to Tomorrow movie, and so my keynote played into that them.
Keynote: Sports & Fitness Industry Association, New Orleans – Interactive Technology, Disruption and the Future of Sports
It’s always a fun event when Roger Goodell, the Commissioner of the NFL follows you on stage. I was the opening keynote for this event, the second time they’ve had me in. (They were previously known as the Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association, and had me in for a talk in 2006.) My talk took a look at trends involving the future of sports, including smart clothing, the next generation of Mom 3.0 and how this impacts the growth of particular sports, hyperconnected sports equipment (think baseball bats with embedded chips), genomic based sports medicine and countless other trends.
Keynote: World Skills International, San Paulo, Brazil: The Future of Careers and Knowledge
Worldskills is a massive global organization that focuses on accelerating young people into new skilled trades and careers, both new and old.
They invited me to open this massive global skills competition and conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil, with a talk on the future of careers, the arrival of new jobs and the disappearance of old jobs, the rapid evolution of knowledge, and how to turn these trends into opportunities for national and corporate competitive advantage.
This is one of The premier global HR/skills conferences and so it was an absolute thrill to be involved!
Keynote: UNC School of Government, Chapel Hill – The Future of Governance in a Complex World
It’s not often you get in to talk to the graduating class of a university program, but that’s what this event was about.
The University of North Carolina thought that the folks attending a course on the role of government needed a rousing sendoff for their graduation, and found me! It wasn’t a commencement speech, but for me, it was close enough. In the room were government executives from state, federal and municipal organizations, and I took them on a voyage of how a wide variety of future trends would provide both opportunity and challenge for government organizations into the future.
Keynote: Mondi, Prague, Czech Republic – Intelligent Packaging, Logistics and the Future of Retail
Mondi is a large scale European / Middle East / Africa / Asia packaging and paper company. And like any forward thinking organization, they need to ensure they disrupt their business before it is disrupted. After an exhaustive global search to find a speaker for their global leadership meeting, they arranged to bring me to the Czech Republic for the event. The goal was a rock-paper-scissors solid talk on the trends that would define not just the future of their industry, but the industries of the customers they serve.
