Here’s a big issue to wrap your head around – increasingly, your opportunity for future success will come from your ability to get the timing right!

As they say, timing is everything, particularly when it comes to the issue of getting involved in any particular trend. In the era of acceleration, it becomes even more critical. You’d better make sure you are ready with any trend of importance and relevance because the future might happen before you know it.

How do you do this? That’s the focus of leadership trait #9 in the era of acceleration: Keep your powder dry!

The issue of timing really became a focus of many of my keynotes over the last while – here’s a clip from my keynote in Morocco for the International Finance Corporation / World Bank just a few months ago at a major global manufacturing conference.

In my series last year, 19 Trends for 2019, I identified timing as one of the biggest trends issues going forward. Getting any trend right will really determine your potential for future success.

How important is this issue? Consider this mashup from a variety of keynotes over the years. My global clients want guidance on not just *what* is going to happen in the future, but *when* it will happen.

Timing also matters when it comes to dealing with the unknown and unforeseen – check my Daily Inspiration quote today today, Because, curveballs.

Flexbility matters when it comes to timing. Take a look at the business parable I found a few years back when I had a bit of a ski lesson and insight with my good friend Larisa Yurkiw, a racer on the World Cup circuit – Fast Forward and Be a Slinky!

So where do you start for some structure on this issue? With this post!
