“The secret to success? Spend more time being excited about the future you are going to pursue, rather than thinking about the past that you are still trying to solve!” – Futurist Jim Carroll
It’s all about a state of mind!
Each and every day, early in the morning, we face a choice – are we going to focus on what we might achieve for a better tomorrow, or are we going to spend our time trying to clean up the complexities of our past.
Some of my followers ask me what led me to write these daily posts, each and every day since early August 2016. Others ask me how I stay so relentlessly optimistic. Still more accuse me of being annoyingly upbeat and positive. To me, much about our future is all about a state of mind – we set ourselves up, each and every morning, for either failure or success. The choice seems pretty evident in my mind.
We can continue to worry about what we did yesterday – with all its challenges yet to be fixed, issues still to be solved, and problems still to be settled. Or, we can focus on tomorrow, with all the ideas that can be explored, opportunities to be pursued, and barriers still to be broken.
That’s not to say that there isn’t always a lot of sorting to do, logistics to be sorted, things to be settled.
It’s just that we should try and spend more time looking forward to where we are going, than looking back to where we’ve been. Because one thing is for certain – the future is where things are going to happen.
