Each and every day, you have the chance to be mediocre. Is that your goal?

Or would you rather try to escape that potential path?

Each and every day, you have a choice to make – will you take the step today that will put you closer to your goal? One moment closer to your potential future? One idea closer to the opportunity of your imagination? One action nearer to your passion?

Or will you equivocate, delay, defer, and avoid doing what needs to be done?

Action is a difficult thing – you know what you want to achieve, and at least a part of the path that you need to follow to get there. But little things and massive challenges often get in the way – life, challenges, barriers, diversions, excuses. There is always that side of your mind that is all too willing to suggest that you don’t need to do it right now

And to that I come back with this reality: if not now, when? If you don’t pursue your dream now, when will you? If you don’t challenge yourself with the opportunity of your idea, when will you do it? If you don’t pursue that figment of your imagination, what regret might you live with later? If you don’t pursue your passion, what happens to your belief in your potential?

I always find it a shame to look around me and see so many people I know who have missed out on opportunities to define their future by not pursuing the actions that might get them there.

And then, you are reminded of the spirit of those who are committed to action.

This morning, while thinking through my daily inspiration, I had a chance encounter with a good friend who has been busy pursuing her dreams out on the global skiing circuit. I’m pretty certain that she won’t know what she will do next when it is time for her to redefine her future. But I do know that whatever she decides – she is of a mindset for action! After all, it takes a special skill to launch yourself out of the starting gate and throw yourself down a hill at speeds of up to 130km/h.

That takes action.

And that’s you today – you are at the top of the hill, looking at the opportunity in front of you.

Are you going to leave the starting gate in the right direction?

Or will you turn around and try it another day?
