“Vigilance: never depend on today’s success for tomorrow’s journey!” – Futurist Jim Carroll

Standing still? Not an option – you don’t know what curveballs life is going to throw your way!

Be ready to hit them out of the park!

That’s always been a pathway I’ve tried to follow throughout my career – I fear complacency, shrink from certainty, and run away from routine – you’ve always got to be ready for anything.

Sometimes it works! I filmed a video yesterday for an insurance industry conference that I will be ‘speaking’ at in September. But it’s not a virtual keynote – it’s more of a film production – I’m actually doing a professionally edited, 15 minute clip with my overseas video partner. I did extensive research on my topic – insurance and Covid-19 – and then filmed in front of my green screen. It’s now become a mutual project as she adds her magic to it and I add my insight to the graphics.

It’s another fun project that has come my way – it’s not a virtual keynote nor a live presentation, but a custom video designed to be run within an hour long video introduction for the conference. And to me, it smells of new opportunity.

Events are becoming like TV – the Democratic national convention showed us that fact. I’m hugely excited – the company that booked me is a global powerhouse in the tech industry, and when it finally goes live, it’s going to be a huge amount of fun to share!

So while I’m working away designing new studio stage sets and working with enhancing my capabilities, sometimes my simple green wall and a powerful editor are all that I really need!
