“Are you stuck in today’s pandemic-rut? Find the switch to activate your ‘tomorrow!’” – Futurist Jim Carroll

Study the image – some trends haven’t changed with this new world. In fact, they’ve accelerated..

In this photo, I’m on stage for Schneider Electric, a global powerhouse in the world of industrial and manufacturing automation, and I’m speaking about what is known as “Factory 4.0” and the “Industrial Internet of Things.”

If you are a geek, you know what that means. If not, it might be useful to get a glimpse of where it takes the world of manufacturing – more automation.

In the new world of social-distant manufacturing, we are going to (hopefully) see more efforts towards worker safety. This will include an accelerated implementation of Cobots (cooperate robots) which can work in closer proximity to humans; a massive number of Internet-connected sensors to better manage and monitor operations – which will include worker proximity monitoring; and even more remote monitoring of specific manufacturing activities because of the insight and control that IIOT offers. In other words, yesterday’s trend provides tomorrow’s new benefit!

If anything, the trend has accelerated the benefits that come from the deployment of such technologies – and as we move into the next phase of this global crisis, organizations are starting to return to an agenda of innovation and disruptive thinking. The fact is, we will see smart organizations get out of their indecision funk and become aggressive with the deployment of smart technologies; we will see future-oriented leaders work hard to take their organizations out of the depressing news of the day into the exciting opportunities of tomorrow

Right now, you might be stuck in your pandemic rut – but maybe the most important question you need to challenge yourself with is – what will you do right now to move your mindset into tomorrow?

Find your switch and turn it on!
