“It’s better to have a life well lived than to just live a life!” – Futurist Jim Carroll

Monday’s are for motivation!

So ponder the phrase and live by it! It’s a well known fact that to succeed in business, you need a stable foundation in your personal life. However you can find it, chase it!

I took some time off and just spent the past four days skiing. Of course, an office being wherever my laptop is, I also managed to get some work in over that time.

How was it? My new smart boot technology tells me that I skied well over 80km downhill, achieved more than 90% parallel on those runs (a lower number indicates a loss of technique in challenging terrain) and an average carving ratio of 5.7 (an Olympian racer being a 10!)

It was, as I tell my friends, EPIC! (I will admit they are getting somewhat tired of my constant data updates after each run!)

Skiing? My wife and I decided our family should take up the sport when the recession of 2001-02 rolled around.

Winter was happening, business was challenged, my mindset was focused on how bad things were becoming rather than how good they could be.

So we joined a ski club, bought some skis, rented a chalet for the season, and hit the slopes.

We had no clue what we were doing.

It showed. I was the owner of the snowplow, and in the first year, mastered the technique of how to fall with style.

20 years on, it’s a full blown lifestyle commitment. Living in a winter climate, we know we either embrace winter & boost our success endorphins – or hate it, and go into a never ending season of gloom!

We chose to live a life well lived, rather than to just try to get by.

The process & commitment had a profound impact on my outlook & approach to my business. Each Monday morning became an opportunity to explore new ideas and opportunities, refreshed and energized by doing something different the days before.

My mind and thought process on the hill, while focusing on my potential for skiing elegance (LOL!) is always chasing and pursuing creative ideas while I’m busy chasing a great line.

I’m clearing my head while pursuing opportunity!

Shouldn’t you? Live life!
