A conference involving the companies who supply McDonalds with product packaging. Given that, my talk took a good, hard look at the speed of change with packaging trends (active packaging, intelligent packaging), sustainability and eco-packaging, faster consumer behaviour and relentless product innovation.
The future is fast for these folks – McDonalds is now delivering 10 home delivery meals per second, with over $4 billion in revenue just this year. For stores that are involved, that’s upwards of 10% of sales. What this means for this group of people is that they need to be able to respond with faster product packaging innovation as this and other disruptive business models continue to unfold at blazing speed.
