“I’m not here to tell you what future you should create - but to give you the insight to create the future you desire!” - Futurist Jim Carroll
People like to be told what to do. That comes through in the reaction to some of my talks.
After I cover a wide variety of trends that will change, disrupt, transform and challenge an industry and the people within it, people will often ask, “Well, what EXACTLY should we do?” They are missing the point. No one can tell you what to do - you have to figure it out on your own. My job is to give you the insight that you need to help you figure that out.
That’s why my go-to advice phrase, my main mantra for the advice portion of my talk has become- “Think big, start small, scale fast!” This gives people a rough framework and conceptual outline to work within. But in that context, they need to figure out an action plan on their own.
