“Your goal is simple: work to move yourself from ‘flawsome’ to ‘totally awesome!’” – Futurist  Jim Carroll

Each of us is burdened with flaws which can hold us back from our potential. But at the same time, we are blessed with the ability to do the most amazing things! Focus on the latter; don’t obsess over the former.

I came across the ‘flawsome’ word one day after returning from the gym. What a word – I fell in love with it right away, since it seemed to reflect the personal voyage I find myself on each and every day!

This morning I’m in Dallas, about to go on stage to speak at a private client event for a major financial services firm. My slide deck is ready, my story is set, my audience scouted out. It’s going to be a huge amount of fun when I get on stage.

But it wasn’t always like that. Years past, I’d be up early, fretting, worrying, fussing. I’d toss and turn the night before, wondering if what I had to say would resonate. But I kept grinding away on the road, building up my experience and working on my approach, focusing on trying to do my best.
That is, until I figured out how to let my best come out!

It’s the same at the gym, where I tend to overuse the word ‘awesome’ in jest – a lot – with my trainer. I was never someone who was into fitness and health; I was the high school rebel! But now, I work out on a regular basis, and every time, I try to do a little bit better with the body that I have been stuck with. And every day, I tell my trainer I think I am getting a little bit more awesome! I’m guaranteed to drive her nuts each session.

So ask yourself today – what will you do this morning with your decision to move from flawsome to awesome?
