“Later will be too late!” – Futurist Jim Carroll

Your life might be a story of lost opportunities; your business might leave a legacy of missed possibilities – all because you used one of the worst phrases in business, “we don’t need to do it right now!”

Actually, you do. And you probably should have done it yesterday – but it’s not too late to start.

If not now, when?

There is no time to wait – and yet, many people do. In my original list of ‘innovation killers’ – the list of the excuses that we give ourselves to avoid doing what we need to do – “we don’t need to do it right now” ranks right up there. I often do a text message poll of an audience to ask which excuses which were most common in their organization, and this one would often be near the top of the list.

Delay is deadly. The thing is, those who rely on this excuse to avoid their future never really come around to pursue it, leading to a life defined by never really doing much of anything. They seem engineered to procrastinate, hardwired to delay, and have genetic material inside them that forces them to postpone anything and everything – particularly when they are confronted with the need to confront their reality!

The excuse takes on greater impact when placed next to the reality of our future in the eventual post-Covid era. The global pandemic has pressed a giant fast-forward button on most industries and companies.  The ultimate impact of Covid-19 on your future? Beyond the fact that we will be living in a somewhat surreal and unusual future, another fact remains – every organization is entering a new future in which a new era of massive acceleration defines everything you will do. There is no more time to wait – urgency should be your new religion.

You need to do “it” right away, at this very moment, without delay. The future is faster than you think, and will. only continue to get faster. If you don’t understand why, head over to my page, “The Reality of Disruption – (24 Reasons Why Your Company Might Die Before You Get Old).” Written a few years before our current bizarre reality, the trends identified have only accelerated further as a result of the pandemic. These are the trends that define your future and are a critical reason why you need to fire up your future with some initiative-based rocket fuel.

It’s also the issue I cover in my post-pandemic future video. Watch this message – and then ask yourself how you might possibly justify any sort of delay!
