We are engineered to procrastinate, hardwired to delay, and have genetic material inside us that forces us to postpone – particularly when we are confronted with the need to confront our reality!

I heard the genesis of this phrase from a good friend the other day during a meeting – and immediately wrote it down, changed it a bit, and kicked a bit of a different bit of life into it. It’s perfect – it captures the reality that so many of us can fall prey to as we take the often difficult steps towards success!

it seems particularly apt when placed next to the reality of our future in the eventual post-Covid era. As I have been emphasizing, the global pandemic has pressed a giant fast-forward button on most industries and companies.  The ultimate impact of Covid-19 on your future? Beyond the fact that we will be living in a somewhat surreal and unusual future, another fact remains – every organization is entering a new future in which a new era of massive acceleration defines everything you will do.

There is no time to wait – and yet, many people do. In my original list of ‘innovation killers’ – the list of the excuses that we give ourselves to avoid doing what we need to do – I identified one of the top 10 excuses we make: “we don’t need to do it right now.”

Actually, you do. And you probably should have done it yesterday – but it’s not too late to start.

You need to do it right away, at this very moment, without delay. The future is faster than you think, and will. only continue to get faster.
