“Your next hire should be for a career that does not yet exist!” – Futurist Jim Carroll
My oldest son works for an agricultural startup, essentially as a location intelligence professional. That’s a career that I was talking about 20 years ago on stage when it not yet exist and he was but a baby. Today, digital map analysis and the skills and careers that go with it is a massive global industry and profession.
Companies are being impacted by fast change, and they are discovering that with this, many of the skills they possess are becoming useless or are going out of date. And there are lots of new careers coming about – like agricultural drone pilots, healthcare robot mangers, water architects, 3D printer clothing designers, computer hacker anti-hackers, remote sports performance analytic managers, smart highway traffic managers, and smart packaging advertising coordinators!
You might not necessarily need new skills right now, but you will, because things are changing faster than you think!
