“Unlike golf, in life you always have a chance for a redo!” – Futurist Jim Carroll
You don’t get a second chance after a bad drive. With a bad decision, you do (in most cases at least!) You also do with the concept of innovation. Today, I’m speaking in Florida for a manufacturing association, and I’ll outline how the concept of ‘iterative design’ is taking hold in many industries. In the olden days – say, a decade ago – you would design a product, commit to production, and go for it.
Today, you can prototype with a 3d printing process or virtually. You can test the design, change it up, update it, make it better – you get a redo. You can manufacture in smaller batches, and change the product along the way.
Add #Iot (Internet of Things) to the product, and you’ve got a whole different animal altogether – you now have a product which is upgradeable though a simple update! Take a look at Tesla – which is now a rolling, upgradeable computer platform that happens to come with wheels and an electric motor.. Be your own Tesla! Make sure you are upgradeable – that your skills, insight, capabilities, well-being, wellness and more can always be changed, fixed, enhanced and improved.
On any given day, always be ready for another go-around!
