“If the future belongs to those who are fast – then small beats big!” – Futurist Jim Carroll
It’s obvious. Big organizations are slow, bloated, weighed down by bureaucracy, and suffering from organizational sclerosis. Small organizations are not.
Big organizations aren’t agile, are ponderous, and drown with aggressive indecision. They are killed by committee think. Small organizations just do things.
Big organizations have hierarchies and org charts and structure that smothers them. Small organizations reorganize on a dime. Big organizations reorganize and rethink and plan and strategize. Small organizations just do. I’ve got a vast number of Fortune 500 clients. Get this – most book me at the last minute, and end up paying my company via a corporate credit card, because their internal process is too screwed up to manage the ability to cut me a check upon signing the contract. Organizations kill themselves with inertia. And so in many industries, small organizations are redefining the future, because they are simply structured for speed!
