‘’Confidence is a precious resource, and when it is challenged, its easy to get into a negative mind-spiral. This is true for the bold innovators who dare to take on the world, as well as those individuals who might find themselves in sudden, new career circumstances.

I spend a lot of time on the stage talking about the former; I have, on occasion and more regularly as of late, had the opportunity to spend more time with the latter.
I recently met with one good friend who found himself in the situation of having to chase new job opportunities.

I convinced him it might be a better idea to switch away from being the hunter, to being the hunted – by getting involved in doing some freelancing or contract work. Take an inventory of your skills, package them up in a concise form, and rather than trying to find the ever decreasing number of companies looking for a long term solution, put yourself out to those who are looking for a short term fix.

A shift in attitude and approach can signal a major shift in outlook!

Sometimes, even the process of turning your initiative around can switch your mind around in a very positive way. And get you on the goal of viewing the future as a negative – to a positive!’’
