“In times of challenge and change, leadership insight into trends and innovation is more important than ever before!” – Futurist Jim Carroll
With that in mind, I give you my new virtual studio highlight reel! Just delivered fresh this morning from my overseas video production partner, Armine (“Alex”) Simonyan – she has been working with me for several years on the awesome video you see around this site, and together we are ready to take your event into the next level in terms of pre-and-post production video! Ok-doke! (Inside joke!)
I’m going to have a few more announcements over the days to come as to how, together, we can kick up your virtual event planning into hyperdrive. For now, give my virtual highlight reel a quick view!
Leadership and trends insight? Today? When there is so much going on in the world? Most definitely – because the future is obviously now unfolding in dramatic new fashion, at greater velocity, and with more unpredictability than ever before.
Ten years from now, you’ll wake up and realize that you were either became a part of this new future, or you missed out on it.
At the same time that I’ve been busy building my virtual broadcast studio, I’ve also been busy keeping a close eye on the trends that are unfolding in multiple industries, the strategies that seem to be working in aligning to this new reality, and the leadership attributes that most likely define success.
After the economic downturn of 2001-02 and the global financial collapse of 2008-09, I found myself sharing this type of insight with a number of Fortune 1000 organizations worldwide. At the times, CEO’s and senior executives realized they needed an external perspective to shake their team out of their complacency, energize their enthusiasm, and fire up their innovation engines.
I’m starting to do this again, and I must say, doing so from the virtual studio is just as exciting, if not more, than doing this on the big massive stages that were my platform for insight in my previous stage-life.
And so stay tuned – we’ve only just begun!

Yes, flip-flops!
Because apparently you can have the skill of building a state of the art broadcast studio in your basement, but miss the small details of what you happen to have on your feet when you do your first new floor presentation!
At least I have pants on!
I have a floor!!!!!
I miss my stage floor – the excitement of getting up at the front of a massive conference room, looking out over thousands of people, taking a deep breath, and pressing “play” in my brain. Then, watching out over the audience, looking into their faces as you saw your words connecting … the followup comments, tweets and emails on how your message resonated…. I certainly somehow managed to develop the career of dreams with my global speaking business.
And then it went ‘poof!’. Fast, in real time, with staggering implications. My life shrank from going on stage for a global event for the World Bank in Morocco to looking at my basement and thinking …. “what if…”
Mid-February, as I saw the crisis begin to spread, I knew that would not be going back to my old stage life for a long, long time. With that in mind, I figured I might as well bring the stage back into my home. We started out doing it with the equipment I already had laying around the house – I’d already been filming some green screen videos for various client promotional videos.
But the quality was always just a big ‘m’eh.’
And so we implemented some new studio gear over the weekend – two new digital cameras in particular that improve my quality but also enhance my capabilities. One, in particular, features a wide angle lens, which allows me to frame a full body shot. With a little bit of backdrop magic, I can now incorporate in a huge variety of stage and other backdrops into my online keynote sets.
Stay tuned – a creativity monster has been unleashed!
I just have to remember not to wear my flip-flops to work!
Shortly after testing the equipment for the first time, I filmed a clip for the folks on the Facebook group that have been providing me assistance. It’s a good, quick little behind the scenes tour of what we’ve done. (And in this one, I’m in bare feet!)

Virtual done right? With Jim Carroll, definitely! He’s invested well over 1,000 hours in his home broadcast studio. Check out the results.
First, here’s a quick tour of what he can do and how he can help you with an unparalleled virtual event in terms of content, studio set ‘stage design’ and wow-factor special effects and interaction.
Then hit the two videos here, which cover two of my most requested keynote topics – as well as a quick summary of all 3 topics.
ALL of these videos were produced by Jim in his home studio – and this quality production can be easily brought to you virtually!

The impact of Covid-19 on the future has, obviously, been massively dramatic!
But the real art comes in assessing the world around us, and understanding which trends have accelerated as a result of the pandemic. TRT, a global television network based out of Istanbul, reached out to me for my insight on how one of those trends have accelerated, particularly in the manufacturing, logistics and warehousing space.
