Time to grade myself. Here's how I framed it in the original post: For the first time, we are routinely seeing five generations simultaneously active in society. This creates unprecedented challenges and opportunities for wealth transfer, housing, care systems, and intergenerational business models. We are, globally, in the midst of an unprecedented demographic shift. For the first time in human history, five distinct generations are simultaneously active in society at scale, creating a demographic phenomenon that is fundamentally reshaping wealth transfer, housing, care systems, and business models worldwide. Five generations are now clocking in at the same company, and the workforce follow-through is real: firms are formalizing reverse-mentoring and knowledge-transfer programs so Boomer-held institutional knowledge doesn't walk out the door as Gen Z walks in. That part of the prediction held. The money side is bigger than I said. The Great Wealth Transfer is now projected at over $124 trillion through 2048 — some updated estimates put the number 48% higher than the original forecast. AgeTech rode alongside it: the market was worth roughly $194 billion in 2025 and is tracking toward $2.1 trillion by 2035, as passive-sensing, AI companion tools, and remote monitoring scale into ordinary households. What I underweighted: the crisis underneath the tech. The global health and care workforce shortage is still headed toward roughly 10 million by 2030, per the WHO, and US eldercare alone is generating over 6 million job openings through 2034 that nobody is racing to fill. Layer on a projected shortfall of 550,000 senior housing units by 2030 and 12.4 million older households already cost-burdened, and the AgeTech boom looks less like convenience and more like triage. Verdict: Right on the five generations, right on the money — light on the strain underneath both. The wealth is transferring. The care isn't keeping up with it.
