“Wishful thinking does not a reality make!” – Futurist Jim Carroll
There are now two types of people in the world as a result of Covid – those who create a future they desire, and those who desire a future they can’t make.
Seems clear enough? So which one are you?
Covid-19 is proving to be a fascinating exercise in how humans adapt. I am surrounded by many people who think that our world is soon to be back to where it was – and don’t realize it is going to a completely different place. They whine incessantly, complain to all, and argue with anyone that their views are the only ones that matter. Gosh, they are just such tiresome people!
Then, there are the rest of us. We know that everything has changed forever ; that historians will examine this unique time of human adaptability in great depth; and that they will find in us something unique which made us the survivors, winners and disruptors. We don’t bemoan our new and difficult circumstances, because we’ve already moved beyond shock, anger and denial – into acceptance.
Let me ask you a question: will today be yet another day in which you won’t accept your new reality – or have you finally defeated the dreaded drug of denial? If you are in the first camp – hey, come join us! It’s way, way better over here in the land of opportunity!
