“Are you too busy trying to get back to where you were, rather than focusing on where you should try to be?” – Futurist Jim Carroll
Probably. So, stop it.
If you are like many people, your ‘old life’ is not coming back – your industry has changed too much, the skills have morphed, the client or customer demands have evolved, the foundation has shifted, the business model has been destroyed and reborn. We’ve seen a seismic change in everything around us through the last few months, and the implications will be long lasting.
Your challenge is this: it’s easier for you to simply wish for a return to the ‘good old days,’ rather than putting in the hard work to get to ‘better days.’
Maybe it is denial that drives your complacency: the mere focus on where you were rather than where you should be helps you to avoid the cold, brutal truth.
Understand this: your past life is over, and you’ve only got your future life in front of you. Accept that, and you can begin the steps that will take you there.
This was a reality before the pandemic, but it is even sharper contrast now.
Start moving! Start doing! Start evolving! Start accepting!
