“Are you running a deficit in your idea bank? Maybe you should do an audit – it might be a good time to invest a bit more!” – Futurist Jim Carroll

We all run out of ideas at some point in time – but to get through turbulent times. you need to fire up your creativity engine into overdrive.

That’s because the old rules that guided your direction no longer apply – new rules are being rewritten every single day. It’s your ability to adapt, change, innovate and experiment that will guide you – and that process will help to light the fires of your imagination.

A time of global economic upheaval and a pandemic might not seem like a great time to explore new ideas – but in fact, there might never have been a better time to fire up your engine. Where do you start? Take a look at my post the other day:

You Can Fail and Win – Or You Can Fail to Win! 10 Things I’ve Learned in 2 Months of Moving FAST!

And read this section:

Collaborate more. See ‘learn as you go.’ The global hive mind is your new best friend. Learn how to harness its riches. I discovered an online community on Facebook for the software I am using – Ecamm Live – and for me, it is now like drinking from a video production firehose!

In my own case, I stumbled and staggered for a bit with my home studio – learning one thing, and then another by trial and error. And then I discovered a community of folks who were busy doing the same thing – and what an unlikely group! Church ministers and pastors suddenly using the same software and ideas to reach their flock. Rave artists and DJ’s trying to keep their weekly dance parties happening, Singers and musicians with a need to send their creativity to the world. Comedians with a crushing desire to make their fellow global citizens have a laugh. Educators without a classroom with a compelling need to keep the knowledge rolling.

All of us, bound together by one common thread – the old world was our friend, this new one is very different, so let’s explore the technical and production boundaries of what is possible.

And all of them exploring, innovating, sharing. Suddenly, my idea machine went into a massive overflow status. Every day now I find myself on a new ship of exploration – new ideas to be explored, new concepts to be tackled.

Do an audit. Top up the balance. Invest wisely!
