“If you give just a little bit, you actually give a lot!” – Futurist Jim Carroll

Yesterday a good part of my day was not spent as a futurist helping folks understand the future of our world – heck, people just want to know about next week! I’m hoping that the weather will warm up and I’ll be able to get out to the garden a bit!

Instead, I spent my time yesterday on the phone with three elderly people, helping them to get into their first WebEx conference.

The most fun came when I finally realized that one of them did not have actual computer speakers, which would make an audio conference kind of tough. She was sent off with instructions to see if could make music play through the set of earbuds she has. I’ll check in by phone later today.

The biggest reward? I got one guy online, and got his video to work to boot. When he saw another few people on his computer screen, the smile and joy on his face was palpable!

The victories can come slow and hard in this complex new world! But they’re worth it. We need to fill in our day.

And efforts like this matter – as everyone hunkers down, the online world is obviously a lifeline to everyone. Heaven help us if the Internet goes down.

How do you stay positive in this mess?

Help out others as much as yon can!

Somewhere, there is something that you do, or something that you are involved with, or some skill that you have, that might be of benefit to someone else. Share it – right now, you define your future with the kindness that you can put to purpose.

The long term trend unfolding right now is that mankind is quickly redefining itself according to new norms. We don’t know what they are yet, but we’ll look back one day and realize that some of us chose to play a profound role.

Keep positive!

Wash your hands!
