“A blind belief in your future without adequate insight into what comes next will be a rival to your progress, an enemy to your effort, and a barrier to your success!” – Futurist Jim Carroll

One of my favourite observations on stage when talking about the future and the speed of change that surrounds involves the uncertainty of what comes next : “We might not know exactly where we are going but we are making great time!”

That is often true for many trends, and organizations and people need to innovate, change and adapt in the face of great, unrelenting uncertainty.
Even so, there are some broad brushstrokes or trends that can provide a grounding for what might come next.

That’s why this year, while everyone else has been compiling a list of predictions for 2030, I took a different approach, and wrote my take on the future: “20 Trends into 2030: Are You Ready for the Massive Transformation of Just About Everything?”

https://2030.jimcarroll.com

It takes a broad look at where we might be by the year 2030, based upon all the trends that are swirling around us today.

Drone delivery pads on driveways of homes for product delivery, most cars are essentially big-battery based computers on wheels, mass customization to markets of one in the world of manufacturing, farming 24 hours a day based on virtualization of tractors and other farm equipment.

Take a look, find the industry in which you work or participate, and think about how much change now surrounds you.

To disrupt your way into your future, you’ve got to have some pretty good insight as to what it is going to look like when you get there.

And so while there is a tremendous amount of uncertainty around us today in terms of specific trends and the timing by which might occur, when we start to think about it in longer term time spans, the path becomes much clearer!

Insight is everything!
