“If you feel like you have been slapped in the side of the head by the speed of change, ask yourself this: were you listening to the people who were telling you what’s coming?” -Futurist  Jim Carroll ‘’ This photo is from my keynote for a retail /grocery conference at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas last week. Everyone was talking about the Amazon/Whole Foods situation, and how this would change shopping. E-commerce today is massive and completely disrupting retail, but everyone seems surprised. They shouldn’t be - I was advising my clients such as The GAP 8 years ago that the current retail model would not survive, and that online shopping would come to quickly dominate consumer behaviour as the Amazon juggernaut rolled out. Now everyone is, like, “Whoah, dude, where did that come from?” Don’t get slapped in the side of the head by the fast future. Spend more time with your local friendly futurist.
