# Keynote Case Study: Chubb Insurance — Insurance Was Entering an Era of New Risk
By

## Article Content
Chubb brought me in to examine the disruption reshaping insurance. The industry has always existed to understand uncertainty. But the nature of uncertainty itself was changing. Technology was changing assets. Business models were changing. Customer behavior was changing. New forms of connectivity were creating new exposures. And the pace of change was making historical assumptions less reliable. Six themes framed the discussion: New Risk Categories. Technology and new business models were creating unfamiliar exposures. Data-Driven Insurance. More information was becoming available to support underwriting and risk insight. Changing Customer Expectations. Policyholders increasingly expected faster, simpler interaction. Connected Assets. More products and infrastructure were becoming digitally connected. Business-Model Disruption. New forms of commerce and work were challenging traditional insurance assumptions. Faster Risk Cycles. Risk could emerge and evolve faster than traditional product cycles. Insurance had always been about understanding the future. The new challenge was that the future itself was becoming more dynamic. The future of insurance would depend on understanding new risk before it became old news.
