Tenth stop: retail.jimcarroll.com is live, with a companion PDF — The Future of Retail & Consumer. Here's the shift I put in front of every retail audience: we've moved from clicks-and-mortar to anticipatory fulfillment. For more than three decades I've worked with retailers, consumer brands, restaurants, grocers, distributors and packaging companies on one relentless question — how fast consumer behavior changes, and how fast the organization has to move with it. Shopping agents, dynamic pricing, personalization and machine-mediated commerce are becoming normal parts of the transaction, not novelties — which is what I mean by retail at the speed of AI. And physical retail hasn't disappeared, it's been repositioned: the store becomes a showroom, as logistics, fulfillment and e-commerce infrastructure quietly take over the job the shelf used to do. The consumer on the other end of that transaction is harder to predict than ever — attention, trust, health priorities, social influence, value and convenience are all shifting the definition of a "good deal" in real time. That pressure runs straight upstream into CPG: collapsing product cycles, intelligent packaging and supply-chain velocity aren't back-office concerns anymore, they're front-line competitive advantages. The leadership question underneath all of it is speed itself — how do you build an organization that can move at the pace the consumer now sets, rather than the pace the organization is comfortable with? I've carried this into rooms with The GAP, Disney Retail, Godiva, Nestlé, Loblaw, Shoppers Drug Mart, Canadian Tire, Yum! Brands, Burger King, Subway, the Retail Council of Canada, Revionics, and APICS's supply-chain community — brick-and-mortar, e-commerce, franchise systems and the technology vendors connecting them all. If you're in retail, e-commerce or consumer brands and want the full picture — the anticipatory-fulfillment shift, the showroom-ification of the store, the speed the modern consumer now demands — grab the free guide, no form required: download the PDF here. And if you're planning an event for a room full of retail or consumer-brand leaders — let’s talk.
