Part of my “26 Principles, Revisited” series — checking my own math, nine months into the year I predicted. In an era of synthetic perfection, your flaws are now the ultimate watermark of your authenticity. Day 24 argued that as AI-generated content approaches flawless polish, visible human imperfection becomes the scarce, trusted signal — the thing synthetic content can’t fake. The scale of the problem this principle anticipated grew fast: deepfake volume online went from roughly 500,000 pieces of content in 2023 to around 8 million by 2025, a growth rate near 900% a year, and by most measures ordinary viewers are now barely better than chance at telling real from synthetic. Which makes the core argument sharper, not softer — genuine, unedited humanity is becoming the premium good, exactly as predicted. Verdict: Nailed it — and the deepfake numbers make the case better than I could. Next up: Principle #25, The Collapse of Time — revisited.
