Part of my “26 Principles, Revisited” series — checking my own math, nine months into the year I predicted. If you are the fastest person in the room, you are in the wrong room. Day 20’s discipline: deliberately surround yourself with people and networks faster than you, rather than comfortable ones slower than you — because comfort caps your own velocity. Nothing about this year changed the logic, it just raised the stakes: with AI-fluent talent and communities moving as fast as they are in 2026, the cost of staying in a comfortable, slower room compounds faster than it used to. The gap between the fastest rooms and the average one is wider now than it was nine months ago. Verdict: Held up, and the gap got wider. Next up: Principle #21, Signal Intelligence — revisited.
