Part of my “26 Principles, Revisited” series — checking my own math, nine months into the year I predicted. Always remember that conformity is where tomorrow's greatness goes to die. Day 17 previewed a book I was still writing at the time — the idea that as AI makes competent sameness free and instant, the only thing left that can’t be automated is genuine, unapologetic difference. That book, Being Unique: Why the Rebels, the Odd Ones Out, and the Crazy Ones Always Win!, is out now — and the argument only got more urgent between drafting this principle and publishing it. The more AI-generated sameness floods every feed, every pitch deck, every “on-brand” piece of content, the more unmistakable, deliberate uniqueness becomes the actual competitive edge, not just a nice personality trait. Verdict: Nailed it — nailed it enough to write an entire book about it. Next up: Principle #18, Anti-Fragility — revisited.
