Introducing Yottabits! I registered YottaBit.com in 2000. (And yottabit.net and yottabits.com) It took me 26 years to do something with it. Yottabits? It's all about 10 x 28 thinking. Back then, I co-wrote a book with Rick Broadhead called From Light Bulbs to Yottabits: How to Profit by Understanding the Internet of the Future. We were trying to help people understand something extraordinary: the Internet was going to become far bigger, faster and more disruptive than most people could possibly imagine. We used the word "yottabit" — representing an almost incomprehensible scale of information — to get people thinking about just how big the future might become. I registered the domains at the time. And then, for more than two decades, they sat there. Until now. I've just launched YottaBit.com — The Future Is Bigger Than You Think. https://yottabit.com Why now? Because I believe we're entering another extraordinary period of technological change. Artificial intelligence, robotics, genomics, energy, materials science, computing and dozens of other fields are advancing at remarkable rates. But here's what really fascinates me: what happens when all these technologies begin to come together? What if AI could help invent the batteries needed to power its own future? What if we could design medicines for diseases we struggle to treat today? What happens when intelligent machines begin coordinating their work across entire industries? What does a world of accelerating scientific discovery mean for your career, your business, your industry — and your future? That's what YottaBit is about. I've started with 70 substantial articles exploring extraordinary technological developments, remarkable statistics, emerging opportunities and the implications of a future that is becoming increasingly difficult to comprehend. It's not intended to be a scientific journal or another stream of technology headlines. My goal is to make complex developments understandable, exciting and relevant to anyone who is curious about what's coming next. Every story starts with a remarkable idea, explains the science in plain English, and explores what it might actually mean for people and organizations. And it's very much a work in progress. I'll be adding more stories, research, visualizations and interactive features as the site evolves.
