Part of my “26 Principles, Revisited” series — checking my own math, nine months into the year I predicted. Remember – in an exponential world, the static become extinct. Day 7 was the hardest emotional discipline in the series: knowing when to abandon a strategy, a role, or an identity that the world has already moved past — and doing it before the market forces your hand. This one stopped being theoretical fast. Current 2026 forecasts put roughly 40% of the enterprise AI projects launched in 2024–2025 on track to be defunded by year end for failing to show ROI, and some analysts expect at least a few Fortune 500 CEOs to lose their jobs over AI failures their own organizations can’t explain or reproduce. That’s “the static become extinct,” happening at board level. Verdict: Confirmed, the hard way — reinvention isn’t punditry anymore, it’s a survival skill with real casualties. Next up: Principle #8, Velocity Alignment — revisited.
