“Sometimes your only option is to chase your strength!” – Futurist Jim Carroll

Where do I find inspiration for my Daily Inspiration? Often it is found in the research I’m doing, the trends I’m watching, and the innovations I’m seeing. Other times, the thought pops into my head while I’m walking or golfing or just being. And in other cases, the genesis of the idea comes from a post that I see online from a friend or an acquaintance.

That’s the case with today’s post – I saw my good friend Nick Engels, a strength coach that I interviewed for my book Now What: Reinvention and the Role of Optimism in Finding Your Next Future. Based in South Africa, I saw him post this bit of brilliance one day as he worked a friend through some challenges.

A dear friend of mine is going through a very challenging time at the moment and when we where chatting about it they said to me, “Well I guess my only option is to be strong right now.”

This is what I wanted to share with you guys today, we all already know how to be strong, because we have had to be so strong for so long before.

We know what to do to be strong, how to do strong, how to access strong.

We have been in challenging situations before, perhaps not like our current one, but in situations that required just as much strength, if not more strength, if not all our strength.

We know how to be strong, because when we feel like we have nothing left onside, nothing left to give, that is when we have to be strong. Being strong is giving it everything we have even when we believe we have nothing left to give.

We are strong.

We know strong.

We have learned how to be strong when we believed there was no strong left.

Be the strong you are.

Believe in your strong.

I love this type of thinking. I love the line “We know what to do to be strong, how to do strong, how to access strong.”

And the thought that popped into my mind while reading it was, to continue moving forward always, even in the face of adversity, is to realize that at some moments in time, our only option is to chase our strength.

Believe in your strong!
