Or, in the verbose version of this quote that I started with before the coffee kicked in:

“A smile is a portal into the reflection of the enthusiasm you bring to your day and your optimism for what will come from what you do next!”

Why do I write these daily quotes? Why do I invest so much time in my virtual studio? Why, when I am feeling a little bit down about the potential for my future,  do I film a little show, and paste a goofy smile on my face while I am doing so?

For one simple reason – these actions provide me the energy and optimism to confront the twists and turns that 2021 presents to us on a daily basis.

Just 3 months in, it is pretty evident that 2021 is going to be an extremely difficult year to manage from an emotional perspective. That’s not to discount last year, which was difficult too – – but if you think about it, 2020 was actually pretty easy for those who did not have to live through the tragedy of the disease. All we had to do was hunker down, carve out a small bubble of safety, and soldier on! We might have seen our business activities decimated, our personal lives and daily connections shattered – but hey, our decisions were pretty easy!

This year? We’re caught in a war between those who think it’s only a matter of months before we go back to where we were in 2019, and the rest of us, who know that the path forward is going to be horrendously complex. All around me I see continued confusion about what happens over the next nine months- and all I know is that rather than going back to where we were, we are headed into some strange new form of global oddness.

For that reason, I work hard to maintain a dose of optimism each and every day. I’ve created myself a little enthusiasm machine, a generator of hope, a turbine of transformation with what I do. And so I keep generating my ideas and sharing my thoughts, for the simple reason that my ability to channel my thinking through my ‘stage’ has become the source of my optimism, the font of my motivation, and the engine that fires up my determination!
