“Conformity kills creativity! Don’t try to fit in – make your own space!” – Futurist Jim Carroll
A random shot from some moment, when I was fooling around trying to create a unique scene.
I don’t think I used the scene – it ended up on the proverbial ‘cutting floor.’ But the shot does help to emphasize a point that was rolling around in my mind yesterday. Have you ever noticed you are surrounded by people who tell you that you are doing it the wrong way? That you should spend more time fitting into the mold, toeing the line, being the like the rest, becoming one with the team?
I’m all for team building, but when a team conforms to a narrow vision, narrow thinking is the result!
Here’s to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes… the ones who see things differently — they’re not fond of rules… You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can’t do is ignore them because they change things… they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do. – Steve Jobs
To your own uniqueness be true!
Because nothing great was ever achieved through conformity.
