“Relentless optimism – let it define the core of your inner enthusiasm!” – Futurist Jim Carroll
A screenshot from 5 minutes in for my virtual keynote yesterday for a franchise food organization. It was just about at this moment in time that I realized it was all coming together perfectly – the content, my research, the stage sets, the production value. Heck, I was even hitting the green tape marks on the floor that guide me where to go – without even thinking about it!
I was in a moment of pure, unadulterated joy!
It takes a lot of effort to redefine your future, and when you realize you are arriving, it’s bliss!
The backstory? You’ve seen me posting a lot of videos online – to Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, LinkedIn. I go live on a regular basis – I try to do so every second day or so. Part of this is an effort to share with business colleagues the steady and relentless progression of my virtual broadest studio. There’s a lot of really crappy products out there from speakers who don’t know how to work in this virtual format, and I truly believe I’m at the head of the global pack. The AV team out of California yesterday told me they have seen nothing like it – the meeting planner was somewhat overwhelmed with the quality. That’s a common reaction.
But I also go online on a regular basis simply to nail down the process of going online! When I’m live, it’s just little old me down in the studio. Everything rests on my shoulders, as opposed to the massive AV teams that used to support my previous stage adventures. There are a tremendous number of moving pieces that allow me to do what I do within the confines of my basement and multiple potential points of failure.
It’s only by practicing, rehearsing, simulating that I can nail down the process. NASA has to do that with spaceflight – that’s why they train so much. Likewise!
And at this moment in time in the presentation, I knew it had all come together. The smile burst onto my face in a moment of absolute, pure joy!
Seek the same! Innovate, change, and adapt!
