“Every small fish in a big pond knows there is still plenty of food to catch in an even bigger ocean!” – Futurist Jim Carroll
The amount of online content these days is staggering – everyone is their own personal TV channel. If your business or livelihood depends on getting noticed in any way – through your advertising or marketing efforts, community outreach, public relations efforts or social media campaigns – good luck to you!
But I bet you never give up, do you? I certainly haven’t, and won’t! An interesting side impact of the global pandemic – and the resulting collapse of the US into a maelstrom of political incompetence – is that my world view has shifted even more dramatically. If I don’t need to travel, then the Middle East, Asia, New Zealand, Australia – all those areas of the world which were already opening up to be as a global keynote speaker, are all that much more accessible!
My world is my ocean!
But to do that, I’ve got to continue to push the boundaries in terms of production quality. It takes a lot of effort to stand out when the rest of the world has now become your real competition.
So – I keep swimming!
The only way to get ahead in the billion channel universe is to continue to push yourself to put out a great product – better than the rest of them. It involves never stopping pushing against the boundaries, breaking the barriers, smashing the conventions.
Because, you’ll only lose momentum if you lose your initiative. Small fish always have the opportunity to grow!
