“Leadership today? It’s found with those who define a future based on dignity and respect for all – and exposes those who are truly weak, who can only glorify a past that exposes their their vile, destructive hate!” – Futurist Jim Carroll

Back in 2017, I wrote a blog post with my prediction for the US: take a moment to give it a read.

Trends: What Comes Next with the Decline of an Empire?

Sadly, much of what I predicted would happen, has happened. The long lasting impact of a nation that seems to be choosing to build its’ future based on hate, not hope, are happening in real time. People who blindly follow without understanding the limits of their faith often don’t realize what they have lost until they have lost it. The future is destroyed by negligence, apathy, fear, blind belief in the rhetoric that they hear.

I desperately try to avoid political posts, knowing that there is no upside. And yet, I despair as I watch the realistic potential for the disappearance of democracy in America. My post from 2017 did not anticipate a military in the streets, prepared to shoot their citizens. And yet, we are almost there.

At the same time, I am watching corporate and workplace situations unfold in our world in which leaders have no regard for the safety of their staff, the wellbeing of their community, the moral impact of their decisions – only a drive for the profit of the dollar and some strange desire to ‘return to normal’ when that normal is forever gone.

We live in truly perilous times. People need to understand the scope of the choices that they make and the impact of the decisions they pursue.

Because, otherwise, what comes next is truly terrifying.
