“An uncertain future? Make it your new normal!”Futurist Jim Carroll

Hey, what were you doing just over three weeks ago?

Doesn’t it seem like it was far away?

In my case, I was getting on a plane, flying to Las Vegas, and getting ready to speak the next day in front of a thousand people about the future and trends.

Today? It seems like forever ago. Obviously the world around us has changed in dramatic fashion at a speed that is staggering. In a manner of just a few weeks, it seems the global events industry has pretty much shut down. The few that are going ahead are doing so with great uncertainty as to what comes next.

All of us are now living with uncertainty, surrounded by the unknown, and wary of increasing volatility.

So what do you do about it?

I know what I’m doing – I’m adapting! Staying focused on the future. Trying new ideas. Finding unique projects to pursue!

One of my big activities has been to ramp up the sophistication of my online broadcast studio. I figure that once we come out of the ‘shock’ phase of this thing, my global clients might still be seeking some insight for their teams – and yet might want to do it an entirely different way.

I plan to be ready for them with a suite of highly interactive tools that can be adapted to any situation.

And so yesterday, I put out a video update of my progress.

Broadcast Studio Update : “The future doesn’t stop with volatility – only your initiative does!”

For me, suddenly, a new and dramatic future full of potential has opened up. I told my son (who was helping me … you can see his head bopping around at the bottom of the frame in spots as he was adjusting things) that I wanted a futuristic city background…. and just like that, I had one…

The key point?

I’m working hard to define and build a new normal. Like everyone, I have no idea as to how this ‘thing’ is going to unfold – and the world that I knew yesterday seems to be gone for a bit of time.

We don’t know when it will be back – and so, move forward!

The future doesn’t stop with volatility – only your initiative does!
