“When it comes to your business model: truth, or dare?” -#Futurist Jim Carroll⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣Admit it: you probably played the game as a kid! Everyone did! ⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣It was, perhaps, a method to explore the boundaries of your world; discover the edges of right and wrong; and live a bit of a vicarious thrill.⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣Enough of the reality of being a 10 year old kid. What about your reality today?⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣When it comes to your business model, would you rather confront the truth of its disappearance? Or just take on a dare and start changing it to respond to today’s realties, before it starts changing you? ⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣Or should the question be: “Truth AND dare!”⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣That’s probably a good way to think about the reality ever industry and leader is faced with today in an era of massive business model and industry disruption.⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣The photo is from my keynote yesterday in Phoenix for the National Council on Prescription Drug Programs, with a keynote relentlessly focused on all the trends which are guaranteeing massive disruption within the pharmacy and healthcare industries. ⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣You simply can’t escape the reality of what is coming: employer groups (such as the Amazon, Berkshire/Hathaway/JP Morgan initiative) redefining the future of healthcare spend; connected medical devices; the acceleration of pharma science from genomics; changing consumer behaviour and more. ⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣The industry is guaranteed to see, and is already witnessing, massive upheaval and change, and so the overall theme was, “What should we do about it?”⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣My message? Change your future, before it changes you! Don’t let the trends get ahead of you at such a speed that the trend now determines your destiny, rather than the other way around. As an industry association, define your way into the future, before the future defines you!⁣ ⁣⁣ ⁣Bottom line? Take some truth. And do some dares!⁣ ⁣⁣
