“Your intuition is often smarter than you think!” – Futurist  Jim Carroll

My intuition often feeds the guidance on the trends I cover on stage. For example, intuition told me that social media would help to drive new growth and interest in golf.

When the @pga invited me in 2010 to open their AGM, they asked me to identify & speak to the trends that would provide golf teaching professionals opportunities to grow the game.

Social media was a big part of my talk – at that time, Twitter was but 3 years old, Instagram had launched just a *few days earlier*, and Snapchat did not yet exist!
Yet I spoke of the fact that there was a massive opportunity coming for golf pros to use social media to reach out to parents getting their kids involved in summer golf camps, tournaments & more. If a mom could see a Facebook post of their 10 year old laughing while on a driving range, that was the magic formula to get young kids & families involved in the glorious game!

Fast forward. Today, golf pros like my good buddy Doug “Laurie” Lawrie @focusgolfgroup & “I never back up my iPhone” Michelle Holmes @michelleholmesgolf have established a reputation as two golf pros who get it. Check out their feeds – check out the kids. Look at the number of followers!

They are achieving massive success in using the power of social media to influence and reach out to the next generation of social media savvy parents.
I’ve also been recently following @erikalarkinpga -> check out her videos on swing technique – she’s using every cool tool at her disposal to come up the short, sharp shocks of fun insight to grab the attention of parents who don’t have much of an attention span anymore!

There are dozens more of these PGA Pros, hard at work using the power of social media to reach out to their students, parents, other club pros & others in the golf industry. Even the head of the PGA, @mammawhales is online!
