“Courage is the secret to strength!” – Futurist Jim Carroll
My job is to make people feel uncomfortable and worried. That’s what I do when I cover the fast paced trends impacting an industry, and outline a path forward.
And the fact is, people need to be worried. Their business won’t survive the massive change in the next 10 years if they don’t make the big bold steps to realign to fast paced trends.
Do you doubt that is true? Let me throw some words at you: Kodak, Blockbuster, Sears, Radio Shack …
Too many people and organizations innovate and change at the speed demanded in today’s crazy fast world. Yesterday, during my keynote for a food conference in Phoenix, I covered a dizzying array of trends impacting the sector, as well as the tsunami of change flooding the world of retail.
I know that by the time I was finished, half the room had a look of worry and concern on their face. Rightly so. But will they do what is necessary to survive and thrive?
Some will, and others won’t.
Those who will? They’ll have the courage to buck the status-quo, dismiss the naysayers, and make big bold steps. They’ll take a deep breath, and dive into the deep end, both eyes open.
