So here at #sandalsstluciagrand, we have an actual Butler. 3 of them, actually. Since six of us were travelling to this wonderful location, we decided to get one unit (ours) with a living room, and with that, comes Butler service.
When I’m on stage in front of a few thousand people, I will often talk about the elusive goal of customer service excellence. And wow, do these folks get it! I must say, I am really struggling to find anything to have any concerns about.
Back to my Butler story. I was on the beach, in the midst of a complicated decision as to whether I should swim or snorkel, when one of our Butlers appeared. As often happens, conversations turned to the strange job that I have, and I was trying to explain to Kenwin what a futurist does. “Oh, you’re just like a butler then…” he observed. “You anticipate things before they happen!” A totally observant guy. M’on.
And it’s true. His job, and that of the two ladies which comprise our team, are really in the business of anticipating the future and upcoming needs of those they are here to assist. They’ve obviously spend some time learning about us, our likes, our dislikes, and what we might be hoping for next. It’s a truly magical experience!
And I’m in the same business, really. I study the needs of my clients, and anticipate what might happen to them next based on current and upcoming trends and other issues.
If I can succeed in anticipating what comes next, then I’ve fulfilled my mission of service!
