“If ever you lose your passion, simply find a new spark – because you know that deep inside, you still possess deep reserves of unlimited energy!” – Futurist  Jim Carroll

I met with a good friend yesterday for a long chat. He’s been struggling as of late with some challenges. Deep inside, he has a lot of passion for his purpose, but he is finding that his enthusiasm has waned.

This isn’t surprising – he’s a wildly successful entrepreneur, and over 30 years has built a tremendous business, a wonderful brand, and some charitable initiatives that up there with the best in the class. He’s recognized far and wide for his skills, capabilities and enthusiasm.

But deep inside, he’ll admit he’s lost his spark; he’s struggling with something; it’s causing him pain to see his enthusiasm challenged. In the synchronicity that is life, we’ve reconnected, and I had a good, long discussion with him about how to bring it back.’ And of course, while waking at my normal time of 5am today, the situation was running through my head – and the motivation that I gave him in the form of this quote simply popped into my mind.

All of us who want to make our world a better place are driven by our passion and our purpose- we see the world as bigger than ourselves, and love the challenge of change. If that is the essence of our DNA, then it becomes soul-crushing tom see our flame dim, become less bright – or in the worst case, become extinguished.

Which is why when things get to this point, it’s best to regroup, rethink and reimagine our potential, our ideas and our actions.

We probably still have the same goals – we just need a different route to get there!
