If I have an idea and you have and idea, we have two ideas. If we share them, we’ve got something much more powerful. We have collaborative innovation!
I spoke at a corporate innovation awards show last night in Philadelphia – recognized were pioneers among the customer base who were developing very innovative products in the energy, automative, petrochemical and other industries.
It’s so wonderful to see those who step out over the edge and invent the future, and I was honoured to be able to inspire them over dinner. Over the years, I’ve done quite a few corporate innovation awards shows. You should have one!
The CEO was on stage before me, and spoke eloquently about the sharing of ideas as the key to success – whether those ideas are shared within an organization or beyond. He also spoke about the power that comes when his organization could look to customers for insight into innovation. That struck a chord, because I’ve been speaking of the power of ‘upside-down’ or ‘customer oriented innovation’ for years.
Collaboration is key when it comes to arriving in the future in good shape. Are you focused on it as a pathway to success?
