“Be inspired by your imagination, but be focused on your initiative!” – #Futurist Jim Carroll
It’s easy to get ideas – it’s harder to implement them.
That’s the big challenge for most creative people. Heck, it’s a problem for most people of all sorts!
So how do you battle that? Through a conscious effort mostly – decide to change your future, before it changes you! Avoid what I call ‘aggressive indecision’ – make a decision and run with it. Don’t focus on the vastness of the goal, but on some small incremental steps that can help you start to get there.
As in, small steps. Baby steps. But at least, some steps.
One of my client has managed to move forward with the vastness of digital manufacturing, 3D printing and advanced materials by implementing what they call ‘an Xbox room.’ Its simply some staff with the tools and the insight (they’re 25!) to get moving on what will be an absolutely massive transformation of the world of manufacturing. It’s not a bold achievement, but it’s a start.
It’s not a home run, but it’s a start.
Think big – but start small! Sometimes, all you need is the big idea but once you have it, you need to start to do something with it.
