I don’t stretch enough.

Apparently.

Yesterday, my family and I climbed our local ski hill; it was a great 2-hour hike, lots of elevation up and down. Once we were back at our chalet (it’s still summer, of course), I proceeded to sit down. Therein began a lecture on my need to stretch after a round of exercise.

Ok, so I’ll work on that this year….

But I will admit it did provide a great genesis for todays’ quote!  I’ll often talk on stage about the fact that ‘velocity is the new normal,’ and all anyone has to do is look at our new world of trade wars, tariffs and mental health of certain political leaders, and not realize we live in perilous times.

That means that organizations need the agility and flexibility to respond to the unforeseen; to manage for the unexpected, and as I will often say, structure for surprise! I do a lot of keynotes on the theme of agility – and the need to respond to rapid change.

And along the way, there have even been specific keynotes on the issue of speed, volatility, flexibility and agility – such as “The Business Case for Fast!”
