‘’ This idea actually came from one of my little sisters one morning, shortly after she saw one of these daily motivational quotes that I post here; in this case, from Roald Dahl: “I began to realize how important it was to be an enthusiast in life…. if you are interested in something, no matter what it is, go at it at full speed ahead. Embrace it with both arms, hug it, love it and above all become passionate about it. Lukewarm is no good.” Her comment was that my enthusiasm for everything as found in my quotes about the future seemed somewhat infectious! I get similar feedback from others. Given the speed of change in our world today – in industries, careers, organizations, and in our personal lives, enthusiasm is often the energy that can get us through. If you are going to have to deal with some challenge and change, there is no good that will come from going at it half-speed. You’ve got to give it all you’ve got, and never lose sight of the goal.

I found myself suddenly using this idea on stage the other day, when I just blurted out in my close, “Enthusiasm is everything!” At the end of my talks, I’ll often talk to the audience about the need to fully embrace the future rather than shying away from it; turn trends into opportunities instead of viewing them as threats; and using creativity as a tool rather than utilizing inaction as a crutch.
