# Keynote: NatureWorks, Orlando – The Future of Packaging and Retail

I was invited to provide a keynote to several hundred executives in the consumer and food products (CPG) industry on the broad theme of the future of packaging - NatureWorks being the company behind many bio-degradable packaging initiatives. My keynote covered a wide range of issues - smart packaging, intelligent packaging, and the impact on the supply chain, logistics, shipping. It also explored the vast trends reshaping the retail space - Amazon everywhere, same day shipping, pick-and-pack, the disappearance of cash registers - and the role that smart packaging plays in this disruptive trend. And finally, a nod to food product and safety issues, and the role of blockchain going forward in dealing with food traceability issues.
